another diy {from Martha}

image and diy via martha stewart.

I was actually just thinking of doing this the other day - I found a good-sized, magnetic closure box from staples on sale for $1.00!  The box is hideous - it is covered in an ugly, red-textured design.  Totally in need of a makeover!  I was going to try using decorative paper to recover, then seal it somehow, but fabric may be a good option too!  Oh, Martha, always there to help us out!

need a new watch...

I've been needing a new watch for quite a while now.  Like for the past three years.  I think it is time I start seriously looking for a watch that will last me the rest of my life.  Like one that will be timeless.  Pun intended.  Here are some of the styles I am considering.  Obviously some of these watches are not in my price range (helllooo Tiffany & co)!

I'm thinking something like the Michael Kors gold-tone watch (#4) would be best for an investment piece.  I think it will always be in style.  BUT I do love the Fossil rectangular ceramic watch (#2) for the moment.  And of course, if I had $9,000 to spend on a watch, I'd immediately go for #1 because it is just beautiful!  For now though, I'm going to keep looking (and saving!)...I don't want to make a decision too hastily.  Any suggestions for a timeless timepiece?  What style do you see lasting forever??

diy mail sorter {from Martha}

Paint a wooden pot lid rack and voila! I've been needing a mail sorter, so this will be just perfect!  I may even recruit my dad to saw down the first couple of pegs for shorter pieces of mail and leave the back ones longer for magazines and such.

fell in love...

...with these awesome wedges friday night at the steve madden store in georgetown.   Too bad the $150 price tag held me back.

eastern market

Yesterday was my second trip to the eastern market.  It was a beautiful day in dc.  I am seriously loving this weather!!  I got a late start to my day, but the market was still enjoyable.  Annnd I didn't feel like standing in the line for Market Lunch (though I really wanted a crabcake sandwich!) so ended up eating a bagel at Port City Java.  I know.  Insert comments about my lameness here.  But I was really hungry and my 2 hour parking time was running out...

Anyway, I did end up finding these cool vintage earrings (which I am obsessed with!):

as well as some greeting cards (like I need more):

I hope everyone else had a lovely Saturday!
