dressing mannequins...

 image via here.

At work yesterday, I spent the day dressing mannequins...and it was SO much fun! I needed lots of help from L to begin with, but it was such an exciting learning process.  It's amazing how one little tug on some fabric can make such a huge difference in the overall look of the outfit.  I can't wait to learn and do more!

On a side note, while I was dressing the forms, I was thinking a lot about the design process.  About how designers drape and measure on dress forms like the ones I was using.  And it was exciting to me.  I'm feeling so confused right now as to what my career path should look like...but I know that I am passionate about fashion and design.  I guess all of these experiences will help to narrow my focus.

new obsession: {all saints}

After a recent trip to georgetown, I have discovered this gem thanks to my best friend, v.  I'm obsessed with the intricately beaded dresses and tops and skirts, in addition to the leathers and knits.  Maybe I'm behind on discovering AllSaints, but I'm just glad I found them! Here are some of my picks:

Amazing, right??  Who else is obsessed?!

Need some new boots...

I have been searching for years it seems like to find some great, leather riding boots at a reasonable price.  Here are some I've been looking at recently.

I also just returned some stuff at Belk, so now I have $100 to spend - and I'm thinking I should get some boots!  They just don't have that great of a selection.  But maybe these Frye boots?

I have to get this figured out soon before it actually gets cold in South Carolina!!

new show: {Project Accessory}

image via Lifetime.

I have been an avid Project Runway fan since {almost} the beginning.  Now that Lifetime is coming out with their new show Project Accessory, I am super excited to see how this one will go.  I'm particularly interested since I make jewelry myself - and a lot of the designers for season 1 seem to be jewelry designers.  Could be something I'd be interested in auditioning for...but we'll see how the first {few} seasons go.  Is anyone else looking forward to this?  Tune in this Thursday after the finale of Project Runway!

J.Crew wishlist.

all images via J.Crew.

A lot of these items are essentials.  But I'm still working on building my wardrobe.  I especially love the chunky gold bracelet.  I don't wear bracelets very often, but would like to start wearing more of them.

Speaking of essentials, I love Nina Garcia's book The One Hundred.  It is a guide to the 100 basic pieces of clothing/accessories every woman should own {such as: black cashmere turtleneck, Missoni knit, LBD, lingere, animal print, a Pucci piece, converse all stars}.  I've got a list saved in my phone of some of the essentials I still need.  That way, when I go shopping I can {hopefully} stay on track and purchase things that will build my wardrobe.

Happy Friday!

{sidenote: Since Missoni is doing a line for Target this fall, I will be crossing that one off my list very soon! Super excited about that.}

{obsession} anthropologie

loving anthropologie (as always).  Since we don't have a store in south carolina, I really enjoyed being able to pop over there whenever while I was in alexandria.  Here are some of my favorite picks from their site now:

need a new watch...

I've been needing a new watch for quite a while now.  Like for the past three years.  I think it is time I start seriously looking for a watch that will last me the rest of my life.  Like one that will be timeless.  Pun intended.  Here are some of the styles I am considering.  Obviously some of these watches are not in my price range (helllooo Tiffany & co)!

I'm thinking something like the Michael Kors gold-tone watch (#4) would be best for an investment piece.  I think it will always be in style.  BUT I do love the Fossil rectangular ceramic watch (#2) for the moment.  And of course, if I had $9,000 to spend on a watch, I'd immediately go for #1 because it is just beautiful!  For now though, I'm going to keep looking (and saving!)...I don't want to make a decision too hastily.  Any suggestions for a timeless timepiece?  What style do you see lasting forever??

so I've been looking for flats recently...

and am soo in love with these from Lanvin and Repetto.

 Unfortunately, my budget at this time does not allow me to take the jump and make the purchase, so I'm thinking I'm going to have to go with something a little more inexpensive like J.crew.  Which is fine too, but one day I hope to purchase some of these classic flats!!  Plus, they are an investment.  Something I will have for my whole life.  The cost per wear would be very low.  Maybe they will be a present to myself when I graduate from medical school...
