coveting these.

image via J.crew.

I am loving the pops of color for fall.  Jcrew has some great pieces - and I am coveting these lovely wool cafe capris in the bright dahlia color.  Unfortunately, the site says they won't be available to ship til 1.16.2011 :( boo.  Still love them, though!

bridal shower.

I, along with another good friend, had the opportunity to plan one of my best friends' bridal shower.  The shower was two weeks ago, but like I said in the post yesterday, I've been super busy!  Here are some pictures taken at the shower:

 beautiful cupcakes that christin made!

beautiful gifts!

We had a great time at the shower, and christin did a great job with the pom poms and food!

I also designed the invites to the shower, but never got a chance to take a picture of one! :(

sale paintings/jewelry!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you all know that I have a 50% off sale going on right now in my etsy shop!  There are some great paintings and jewelry all under $10! Check them out! :)

I'm back again!

Sorry I've been away for a while - I've been super busy with work, personal stuff, etc!  I promise to be better about letting you know in the future when there will be lulls in posting.  Not that there should be many.  But it does happen at times! :)

Anyway, this past weekend, I attended a retreat out at Camp St. Christopher on Seabrook Island for this discipleship training/learning thing I'm doing called Year Team.  (Learn more about Year Team here.)  It was so beautiful out there - just take a look at this pic!

(and this photo snapped from my iphone certainly doesn't do St. Christopher any justice.)

Being out there brought back a lot of memories, though.  I was super nervous about even going back there.  It was an emotional weekend, but also a very inspiring one - and I feel like the Lord taught me a lot.  I think specifically being at camp, though difficult, was important to really learn what the Lord wanted me to.  I'm so thankful - God is so good.  I'm excited for what the next nine months in Year Team will bring.

cleaning the closet

image via ikea.
The picture is a beautiful PAX closet system via ikea.  A walk in closet was created by separating a space for a closet from a small bedroom.  WANT THIS.

Since I am getting ready to move soon, I've been working on cleaning out my closet. for real.  I always say I'm going to clean it out, yet end up hanging on to things that I don't wear ("maybe I'll wear it one day...") or that don't fit me anymore ("maybe one day I will fit into this again...").  It's a very annoying trait of mine.  BUT I came to the realization the other day (don't laugh that I'm just getting this now) that I may as well get rid of stuff because it is just taking up precious space in my closet AND I will want new things later anyway.  Duh, Erin!  Not sure why it took me so long to put this together (I blame my packrat of a father!) but I'm so glad I came to this realization.  I literally have hugggee bags of stuff that I will be trying to sell on ebay or donate.  And now there is plenty of room in my closet for new stuff! :)

ps - shout out to my awesome friend eab for helping me declutter my closet! :)

diy {gold elephants}

During my HomeGoods, Goodwill, Michael's (etc...) shopping excursions, I've been looking for some sort of animal figurine (preferably a pig or elephant) that I could paint gold and use as decoration on my book shelf.  I spotted these cardboard elephants while at Michael's ($0.99 each!) and decided to give them a try.

Now here's what they look like:

I need to style them up, but for now, I like them!  What do you think??

My roasted potatoes :)

I made these potatoes the other night.  I love making a larrrggee batch of them, because they reheat really well (and I am verrry picky with left overs!).  They are super yummy!  Recipe below.

To make:
-large bunch of small red potatoes, quartered
-drizzle of olive oil
-sea salt to taste

I usually put the cut up potatoes in a bowl, pour some olive oil & sea salt over the potatoes, and mix with a fork.  Then I spread the potatoes out on a baking sheet (usually covered with aluminum foil for easy clean-up), add a little more salt (I lovvvee salt), then throw them into the oven.  I usually do 325 degrees F for 20-30-45 minutes.  Cook times will vary due to the size of your potato pieces...basically you want the potatoes to be soft and slightly browned on the tops! :)  Easy.  Trust me, I am no cook!

diy {paper covered box}

Found this ugly red box in the $0.99 bin at Staples.  WIN!  I immediately thought of covering it in some beautiful paper.  So, here's the before and after.  With a glue gun and some pretty paper from Papyrus, I turned this:

into this:

Now I just need to decide where to put it! :)
